Meditation for Everyone - The Only Thing That Restricts Us Is Our Mind

Hi.  My name is Jo. My Meditation and Mindfulness classes are created to help people deal with the everyday stresses of life, to not be distracted by the thousands of thoughts going through our minds and to live and enjoy the here and now, whatever that looks like .  A regular practise can help  to reduce stress, improve sleep, increase wellbeing and give you clarity and focus, as well as many other benefits.  We can not always change what happens to us in life, but we can change the way we experience it and deal with it.  My classes take place in Sheffield but I also offer one to one and skype sessions for those unable to travel.  Please click on the button below to find out more.


How Meditation Can Help You

I qualified as a Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher because I love everything about Meditation and Mindfulness and wanted to share it.    But not everyone views this practise the same way.  I quickly found that some people were put off by the overtly spiritual element of some practitioners;  instead they are simply  interested in relaxing and learning techniques to deal with everyday stresses of life, work and relationships.   This is how A Modern Way to Meditate came to life. There is no limit to where and how Meditation and Mindfulness can be carried out; group and one to one sessions, nutritional workshops, retreats and schools. I have carried out sessions for competing sportspeople, the elderly in care homes and for anxious pregnant ladies! The only thing that limits us is our mind!

We have 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts a day. That's a lot of head traffic, a lot of thinking and a lot of reacting or in most cases over reacting; no wonder we are all exhausted.  With regular meditation we learn how to manage the everyday thoughts that often leave us feeling stressed and anxious.  Dealing with what life throws at us from a position of calm enables us to focus on what is really important in life.

Health & Wellbeing in the Workplace

Every organisation in the UK is affected by mental ill-health in the workforce. At any one time, one worker in six will be experiencing depression, anxiety or problems relating to stress.   According to the Centre for Mental Health, 91 million days are lost each year due to mental health problems, the total cost of which is estimated at nearly £26 billion each year for UK Employers.  This is equivalent to £1035 for every employee in the UK workforce.

When a person’s wellbeing reduces, so typically does his or her performance, effectiveness and commitment.  This can lead to reduced productivity, de-motivation, lack of focus and ultimately time off work. These experiences can occur in all types of working environments so understanding the risks to workers in relation to health and wellbeing is an increasingly important and sometimes difficult responsibility for the modern employer. A regular Meditation practice is proven to help with the following:
